A Cunty Affair has been on quite a lengthy hiatus, fueled largely by a combination of laziness, cuntbaggery and being out of the country looking for Bigfoot.
Well, that never happened. But while we were hunting in the American Pacific Northwest for Sasquatch, we continued to keep up to date with the news.
Which means that it's time for us to bring you a rather sad fact.
For the first time since John F Kennedy, American political debate has officially outstripped Australia's in terms of intelligence.
Professor Brantforth Covington-Smythe from the Harvard Center Of International Affairs says it's largely to do with the nature of the issues being debated.
"Of course, American political debate continues to be bitterly partisan and inconclusive, however what we are seeing is at least a willingness to discuss the major issues. The recent discussion over the national debt limit is a clear example of such. Australia, on the other hand, is not in such a critical position that major issues need to be on the national agenda, so their politicians appear to be concerned with relatively trivial issues."
Professor Covington-Smythe refers to the carbon tax and "boatpeople hysteria" as two such issues.
No one from either of the major parties agreed to comment to us.
Re: The Failure Of Political Debate.
yah, the two party system in Australia seems to be a smokescreen for one rather shitty party at the moment.
