New Free Dr Israel EP

Dr Israel has released a free new EP entitled 'Ghetto Defendant'. It is named after the title track, which is a cover / re-imagining of the Clash song of the same name. I have listened to it and it's really good. Verbatim blurb below:

[i]The new FREE EP, “Ghetto Defendant”, is the Prologue to “The Liberation Chronicles”, a multi-media series telling the tale of a dreadlocked insurrectionist battling an evil post apocalyptic corporate empire. Designed to stretch the boundaries of current media and media presentation, the EP contains 5 new powerful songs which stay true to the doctor’s revolutionary production history.

Cloud Atlas

There's a bit of buzz generating around the upcoming epic Cloud Atlas, which is still in the early stages of production. The film seems to be shooting for the biggest possible reception, featuring actors such as Tom Hanks, Hugo Weaving, Hugh Grant, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon and Jim Broadbent. It's being co-directed by the Wachowskis (the odd pair who made The Matrix) and Tom Twyker (Run Lola Run) and is based on a great piece of enigmatic literature also called Cloud Atlas. There's some concept art at Aint It Cool News but I'm a little concerned that people seem to be fixating on it as a 'science fiction' film.

DUDEROCKET CONTEST!

To celebrate the upcoming footy season the nice folks at the NRL have given Duderocket a Willie Mason action figure to give away. This doll, standing around seven or eight inches tall, depicts our hero running with a ball, and his hand looking like it is ready to push something... This fine piece of art will no doubt take pride of place in our lucky winners home!

For your chance to win all you need to do is get creative and submit some writing about the great man himself! You can write about what Big Willie means to you... you could come up with some fan fiction (erotic or otherwise). Willie Mason inspired artwork will be accepted.

20. Ampere - "Like Shadows"

I was never much into all of that "screamo" stuff, but I dug Orchid and I like Ampere heaps too.

The Circle of Life

One man dies, another man lives.

Just as news reports begin confirming that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il has died, news reports have also begun surfacing that Molly Meldrum is starting to emerge from his coma. A dictator's eyes close, and a music icon's eyes open.

It is the circle of life.

Duderocket can now exclusively reveal that Meldrum's recovery has seen a marked shift in his personality. He expressed a desire to build up his film collection, drink french wine, and start working on an Australian nuclear weapons program.

2011 TOP 25 RECS. Part 1.

2011 has undoubtedly been one of the most solid years for music in a long time. Albums that I was looking forward to were being released on a weekly basis, not to mention the sweet stuff stumbled upon by newer bands. In celebration of the wonderful year in music that was, I will be listing my top 25 in five groupings of five leading up to the end of the year.

I have included a track from each album for people to check out the stuff that they might not have heard. I didn't get permission, so hopefully the bands, artists or label people don't see this as any kind of problem. If it is just let me know and I will gladly remove the file.
